The Tren Maya station in Puerto Morelos: how to use it
Puerto Morelos has its own Tren Maya station on Section 5 of the line, which changed how people arrive from Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Here is what to expect if you are moving here or coming to see a rental.
Where it is
The station serves the municipality of Puerto Morelos and belongs to Section 5 of the Tren Maya. It is not in the beachside village itself, so you still need a short ride to reach the town center.
From Cancún to Puerto Morelos
Published schedules list the ride from the Cancún Tren Maya station at about 19 minutes, with the first departures around 9:00 a.m. and later services in the afternoon. Times change with the season, so check the official Tren Maya site before you travel.
From the station into town
There is a shuttle bus between the station and the town center, listed at MXN 55 and about 15 minutes, running with the train timetable. Taxis also work the route.
Does it matter if you rent here?
For long-term renters, yes: it makes weekend trips to Valladolid, Mérida or Tulum easy without a car, and it gives visiting family another way in. For daily life in town you will still walk, bike or use colectivos.
